Vets: Troy Nelson, Carly Campbell, and Lauren Leger
Friday lasagna (vegetarian and meat sauce available on the side) dinner is included with rider entry. You can reserve extra meals on the registration form. Coffee will be provided early on Saturday morning. A food truck will be available for purchasing food items on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Saturday dinner (baked chicken) can be reserved on the registration form.
All overnight campers must get a hookup, which is part of your registration. There are 50 hookups available. You can request to be located near other campers.
Ride camp features rest rooms and showers for you. We'll also have a covered pavilion for dinner and the ride meeting.
There are lots of spigots in camp, plus 6 wash racks. Bring hoses.
All horses (yes, even your horse!) must be in a stall overnight. 1 horse per stall, and no reserving an extra stall for storage. Stalls vary in size, so the sooner you register and pay, the better options you'll have. Bring shavings. You must tack up in the stall area, not at your trailer. Muck carts will be available, and you must clean up your stall and leave it as good if not better than it was at your arrival. Do not leave hay behind.
- Anyone that doesn't clean their stall will be subject to a $25 clean-up fee.
- Lights in the barns will be turned off at 9:00 PM and on at 4:30 AM.
Only local day riders riding the intro may park in a designated area and vet in prior to your ride.
25s/50s/65s must vet in on Friday afternoon.
Not sure if you're ready for a 65? The 65 is an elevator, meaning that after you complete 50, you can then elevate to 65 for the higher-distance completion. Please see AERC rules regarding elevating.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the beach or creek areas. Dogs that bark consistently when you're not there should be left at home. You must clean up after your dog.
All riders must wear helmets when mounted.
If you're coming into Florida, you must stop at an Ag Station and present a valid health certificate. Even if you're within Florida, you still need to stop at any Ag Stations you pass and show Coggins.
If you need any groceries or fuel, be sure to stop long before you get on the back roads to get to Blackwater River State Forest. No 7-11's nearby!
Also, because your horse will not be at your trailer nor can you bring your horse beyond the horse area, bring a wheeled cart to transport hay and other items.
Trails are awesome! They're largely single- and double-track, with some gentle hills. You'll cross over the river at least once. No worries, it's only about 1' high at most and lovely.
There is some sand and some clay base and considered barefoot friendly.
It will be archery and small game season in the forest, so please wear orange or another bright color when riding.
Blackwater River State Forest is located in the Central time zone.
