Registration is open!
All riders must reserve and park in a hookup spot. Only day riders that ride the intro ride are exempt.
Hookups include water and electric (no septic).
If you have a very large trailer, please make a note on your registration form so that you can be allocated a larger hookup spot.
When you arrive, you will be directed to a temporary parking area where you will unload your horse and walk your horse to the stall. Please be very brief. You will then be directed to your hookup spot.
Only horses registered for the ride may be brought onsite. Every horse must be stalled; horses may not be kept or tacked at your trailer. No extra stalls can be reserved. You may wish to bring shavings for your stall.
All riders are responsible for cleaning up their stalls. Muck carts will be available, and signs will point to manure pile. Any rider that leaves a mess will be posted to a wall of shame and disallowed from attending the ride next year.
There are 36 12'x12' covered paddocks and plenty of 9'x14', 9'x11, and 7'x11' stalls. Stallions must be housed in stalls.
Get as dirty as you can and then take a hot shower! Ride camp features rest rooms and showers.
Lots of spigots in camp for water for the horses, plus 6 wash racks. Bring hoses.
Vegetable lasagna dinner is included on Friday for all riders. Extra meals are available but must be pre-paid. A food truck will be available to purchase food items for lunch on Saturday. To enjoy baked chicken dinner on Saturday, designate on your entry form.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the beach or creek areas Dogs that bark consistently when you're not there should be left at home. You must clean up after your dog.
If you're coming into Florida, you must stop at an Ag Station and present a valid health certificate.
You may not bring your horse to your trailer for tacking, crewing, or any other reason. Because your horse will not be at your trailer at any time, bring a wheeled cart to transport hay, saddle, and other items to the stall and/or crewing area.
All riders must wear helmets when mounted. No exceptions.
Safety is paramount for all riders, vets, and volunteers.
The trails at Blackwater State Forest are beautiful. Gentle hills, mostly jeep trails. You will go through a shallow river crossing or two.
In general, very good footing. There are a few gravel road crossings and short stretches of gravel road (few hundred feet). There's enough room to get off to the side or slow down if your horse is barefoot.
All vet checks in camp, and no crewing on trail.
Bring buckets and other items to set up a crew area.
Intro ride: 10 miles (1 loop)
25: 2 loops
50: 3 loops
75: 5 loops
Last loops of the 75-mile trail will be marked with fairy lights.
A minimum of 11 riders must register for the 75 in order for this distance to be held. If this minimum is not reached one week before the ride date, riders will be informed and their registrations will be modified to 50 miles.
It will be small game season (including wild hog) in the forest, so you may wish to wear orange.
Come ride a 10-mile loop and become acquainted with endurance riding. Intro riders will leave after all other distances and will have the loop to yourselves for about 2 hours. A maximum of 12 intro riders can join the fun.
Your ride entry includes dinner on Friday evening. Please check in with the Ride Manager to get your ride card before dinner. You can come without your horse or you can come with your horse and trailer and stay overnight with a hookup and stall. Following dinner, a first-time riders meeting will be held at 7:15 PM. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions of seasoned riders.
If you're local and riding the intro, you can arrive in the morning with your horse and be a day rider. The intro ride starts at 9:00 AM, so please arrive by 8:00 AM so that you have plenty of time to vet in by 8:30 AM and saddle up. Intro riders that are just onsite for the day are not required to rent a stall. You will just tie your horse to your trailer.
AERC non-member fee does not apply to intro riders.
